PowerRIP X™ is a complete redesign of the previous PowerRIP 2000 version. It uses Apple's OS X and CUPS (The Common Unix Printing System) to create a seamless printer integration with the operating system.
PowerRIP X™ uses Apple Color Sync for color management. Users can add their own source profiles or new output paper profiles for their printers. CMYK color matching is excellent for prepress proofing and RGB data can be handled as Photographic or Prepress. Grayscale data can be handled as equal mixes of RGB color (Photographic) or as a Black only channel of K from CMYK (Prepress). Or Grayscale can be converted to LAB in Photoshop to simply maintained neutral grays or be tinted easily using Photoshop.
After you install this software, you will not find a PowerRIP X application folder or separate program to launch. This is a new approach to PostScript printing. Now to setup PowerRIP X you only need to create a printer, one time, in Print Center and choose it in your application. Apple's Print Center on 10.2 or the Printer Setup Utility on OS X 10.6, 10.5, 10.4 or 10.3 combine with CUPS to auto launch the PowerRIP application, which runs until the file is printed, PowerRIP then goes away until it is needed again. Printers can be driven by USB, USB to parallel, and Ethernet via TCP/IP, AppleTalk, and ATPrint.
If you already have PowerRIP X installed, simply download the newest version and it will automatically update the necessary files. Then recreate your printer in Print Center to take advantage of the new features. You will not need to reactivate your software. If you are adding a new printer within your product category, PRO or LF, you do not have to reactivate either. Simply load the software and add the printer in Apple's Printer Setup Utility/Print Center.
Please choose your printer from the list below, place your cursor over the name of the printer you wish to download, it will become bolder, then click on it to begin the download of the appropriate file. After you download it you can then install the software. All these Downloads function as DEMO as well as regular Update. When using as update, always deactivate the licence and follow the instructions of the installer.
In case of Mac OSX no deactivation of the licence is needed at all, but always delete the printer in the Printer Setup Utility before updateing and reinstall the printer after the update to make sure the new PPD is used.
